RARE stainless steel RED Submariner Date model 1680 with box and papers ! This early 1970s model ( the case back is dated for the third quarter of 1971 ) is most collectible because it has the word SUBMARINER depicted in red on the dial. This is one where the depth is rated 660ft-200m ( ones with the depth rating reversed are even rarer ). Many such watches had their dials replaced with later, all-white text versions when serviced. Comes with old Rolex inner / green stripe outer boxes, original punched papers AND numbered green swing-tag ( both bearing the matching 307xxxx case number ) AND Rolex UK service warranty card dated December 2012, when its movement was overhauled and a new acrylic glass, bezel insert and oscillating weight fitted. Thr original bezel insert is well worn and faded but we have retained it and can supply it with the watch, as some collectors may prefer. The bracelet is a Rolex Oyster Fliplock 93150, whose P9 date-code suggests it is a service replacement from the early 1990s. The watch has been in our safes since the 2012 service and retains the service stickers to case back and case sides ! We have previously priced such a model at just under £10,000 but the dial on this one, over 40 years old as it is, features a very slightly light patch between the ten and eleven o'clock markers, which is reflected in this keen price. Please arrange a viewing through our watch team on 0151 708 6766, as we do not cater for internet or mail order business and unfortunately cannot meet requests for photographs.
